Survival team game
As the trainer, split the participants into groups of 5 or 6 if you have a large attendance. Then give each group the handout with the list of items to choose from and a pen if they need one. After the 15 minutes is up, the trainer will choose 3 groups to explain which items they chose and why. This activity can be kept to 30 minutes or can easily be extended to 45 minutes with a quarter of an hour spent on an open discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of each item. This activity pushes participants to communicate as a team by guiding them towards debating and discussing the items they would need to choose.
This task does also tend to showcase who the leaders are as one of the 4 team members will often take control of the group. From a management point of view, this can be an especially interesting activity to observe if you are interested to see who the natural leaders are. By mixing teams up, this is also a good way to get people to chat with others that they would otherwise not engage with. This can also be a great activity internally for companies looking to get employees from different departments to know each other.
Thanks for sharing this team building activity. I would like to know if there is a best answer to which items should be chosen? The best way to guarantee your future is to create it. One of the key areas in Awakened Jobs we want to create results in is matching Care support workers and service users for at home care and finding Personal Assistants to support disabled adults or children with day-to-day living. We have some jobs and opportunities on the job board already but we want more but we want to be sure we have the right candidates there too so that these important roles can be filled.
It is a bit of a balancing act with a new concept like this as we need to have both candidates AND jobs throughout the UK. This will take time but you can help make this a reality faster by getting yourself registered on the site and applying for any jobs that come up that suit you. Share this Previous article.
Next article. July 27, 0. January 5, 0. Had done this test a decade ago. The trainer used this game to demonstrate the concept of synergy and leadership quality. First, soled the game individually. Then formed teams and selected by members one leader for each team. Team collectively solved the problem. Then compared the individual scores with team score. In all cases, team score was better than average scores of team members.
Also done several permutations like comparing the best individual score among team members to combined score, leader's score to combined score etc. A lot was there to learn from such games. There's a couple of ideas here that I have not seen before, so I'm adding them to my repertoire asap. Thanks Grahame Posted by: www.
